(Message from Jane Potts at SCFD:)

There are four upcoming vacancies on the Denver County Cultural Council. Prospective new members need to make application by August 6. The selection/appointment process will take place in August/September and new member terms begin on October 1, 2010.

The Denver County Cultural Council was established by an Ordinance of Denver City Council to distribute Denver Scientific and Cultural Facilities District Tier III revenues. The Ordinance states that "in making these appointments the City Council will give due consideration to assuring a balance of knowledge and skills in the following areas: experience in arts, cultural, scientific, and historical organizations; and, skills in art education, nonprofit administration, development/grant making, and business. The Denver County Cultural Council members shall reflect the ethnic, social, demographic, and geographic diversity and composition of the City. Each appointed member must be a resident of the City and County of Denver, 21 years of age or older, not currently a volunteer or paid staff person of an organization applying for Tier III funding and willing to disclose any conflict of interest."

Attached is the press release, duties of council members and an application to the Council. Please share this information with individuals you know who would be interested and meet the stated qualifications. And as always, please contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,
Jane Potts, Program Administrator
